All our staff have many years of experience in hiring and using tools and equipment. This product knowledge ensures that we offer you the best and most appropriate equipment for your job. Please call in and judge for yourself at either of our branches.

Top quality equipment

We only stock the highest quality branded equipment from reputable manufacturers. After every hire each item is checked, tested and issued with a safety certificate in accordance with procedures laid down by our enforcing body the Hire Association of Europe – the H.A.E. Our fully qualified technicians carry out all repairs and maintenance and we have consistently met the Associations Safety Assessment requirements every year since introduced in 1993.

Sale Or Return

All our accessories and consumables are available on a sale or return basis with hire equipment ensuring you only pay for what you use.

Repairs and Service

Everything we sell, we repair- and more besides!
Our experienced workshop technicians can repair most makes of power tools and engine driven equipment. We also provide an electrical safety testing service for all your power tools, thereby ensuring they conform to the latest Electricity at Work Regulations.

Non-Stock Items

Occasionally you may need to hire or buy equipment that we do not stock. Please contact us and we will be happy to obtain the item, in order that you can get the job completed as quickly and easily as possible.

New Customers

New customers are always welcome. You will simply be asked to produce proof of your identity, normally a driving license and paid utility bill detailing your current address. We will also require a deposit in the form of a debit or credit card to cover the specified hire period.

Acceptable Identification

For Cash hires: Any two from the following list (both to show current home address)

  • Driving licence
  • Paid utility bill
  • Bank statement
  • Council tax bill
  • Credit card statement

N.B a passport is not an acceptable form of i.D as it does not show an address!

Trade Accounts

If you require a Trade Account please ask for a Credit Application form. We will do our best to approve an account within 48 hours.
Alternatively you may prefer to apply for a Trade Card, which would still require you to leave a deposit and payment when hiring equipment but does give you a very competitive Trade Discount of 20%. We do make a small administration charge of £5.00 to process Trade Card Applications.

Hire Period Definitions

½ Day – Means up to 4 hours hire, within the working day.

1- Day – Means up to 24 hours hire. – Equipment kept for over 24 hours will be charged as an extra day.

2- Days – Means from 24 hours up to 48 hours hire.

1 week – Means any complete period from 48 hours to 168 hours hire.

Weekend Rates

A discounted rate is available for equipment collected Friday 4.00pm – 5.00pm or Saturday 8.30am – 12.30pm and returned Monday before 10.00 am. Please ask for details.


A very efficient delivery service is available at a small extra charge. We have a fleet of three satellite controlled delivery vehicles, and most orders can be delivered the same or next day. Please enquire for details and rates.


We do not normally make a charge for cleaning, although we do reserve the right to make a charge for equipment returned in an exceptionally dirty condition.


All equipment is offered subject to availability. However we will do our very best to source your requirements elsewhere if we are temporarily out of stock of the items you require..


Non – Account Customers: credit or debit card at the commencement of hire.

Account Customers: Strictly 30 days net from end of month.

Invoice Value

The minimum invoice value for account customers is £5.00


All damage must be paid for. Any equipment lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair will be charged at the current replacement cost.


Please note that insurance cover for loss and/or damage is your responsibility.


All accessories for use with hired equipment are available on a sale or return basis. No charge will be made for items returned unused providing they are in a re-saleable condition.

Monday – Friday: 07.30 am to 5.00 pm

Saturday: 8.30am to 12.30pm


All prices shown are in pounds sterling and are exclusive of VAT.


Thames Valley Hire Services Limited reserves the right to amend, alter or increase the charges on the website as well as add or withdraw any equipment described and/or illustrated at their sole discretion and without notice.

Specific general conditions for the hiring of equipment and the conditions of sale are printed on the reverse of all hire contracts and in addition are sent to all Trade Account customers when their accounts are opened.
